Qualicum Ottawa Neighbourhood Tour – Ottawa Life with Ottawa Realtor and Ottawa Real Estate Agent

Today we’re going to spend some time in the Qualicum—Redwood Park neighbourhood. This west-side Ottawa area includes the Qualicum, Redwood Park, and Morrison Gardens communities.

QUALICUM OTTAWA HISTORY

This bike-friendly neighbourhood was developed in the 1960s in the woods and farmland of what was then known as Graham Bay. Like some of the other neighbourhoods on the western side of Ottawa, the original farm lives on. In this case, it’s in the form of Bruce Farm Park, at the southwestern tip of Qualicum.

You’ll find all sorts of housing options in Qualicum—Redwood Park. The original development of Qualicum consisted mostly of large detached homes. In Redwood Park, townhomes and apartments flourished in the 1960s and 70s.

Construction of housing continues, with condo developments and high-rise apartments joining new detached homes and townhomes.

Qualicum—Redwood Park is just south of Bayshore, giving residents ready access to the bustling Bayshore Shopping Centre as well as the Pinecrest Shopping Mall. Qualicum is also home to the Queensway Carleton Hospital and an Everest College location.

THE GREAT OUTDOORS

You won’t have any trouble finding ways to spend time outdoors in Qualicum—Redwood Park. Public parks, including Morrison, Qualicum, Okanagan, and Mohawk Parks dot the neighbourhood. Nanimo and Grant Parks are home to community centres.

Graham Creek also makes its way through the neighbourhood as it heads to the Ottawa River. This family-friendly neighbourhood sits just over 10 kilometres from downtown Ottawa. Residents who work in the city centre can drive there in less than 15 minutes.

About 5000 people call the Qualicum—Redwood Park neighbourhood home. Close to shopping, the city centre, and the Ottawa River, the area offers a suburban atmosphere and big city convenience.

Are you moving to Ottawa? Make the short drive from the city and visit Qualicum—Redwood Park. This established neighbourhood has a lot to offer to residents of all ages.
