Ottawa has so many neighbourhoods! Today we’re heading about 15 kilometres southwest of the city centre to the College Ward neighbourhood of Briar Green Ottawa — Leslie Park Ottawa.

HISTORY OF Leslie Park Ottawa & BRIAR GREEN OTTAWA

Originally developed on forest land beginning in the 1960s and 70s, Briar Green—Leslie Park is still home to some of the original trees and lots of green space. Some of the trees are over 100 years old, giving this neighbourhood lots of character and a link to its past.

Briar Green—Leslie Park has seen its share of ups and downs since the first home was built in 1951. Its active community association has overseen the revitalization of the area’s townhomes and major improvements to its community spaces.

Graham Creek, which winds through the neighbourhood, has a fantastic walking path, and residents enjoy a community garden. Its proximity to Queensway Carleton Hospital is a bonus.

Leslie Park holds several annual events to engage the community. Hundreds of residents enjoy these winter, spring, and fall celebrations. Skating rinks, playing fields, baseball diamonds, and basketball courts are all available in the neighbourhood’s parks.
