Welcome to the Iris—Queensway Terrace South neighbourhood. Originally part of Queensway Terrace North, the 1967 construction of Highway 417 split the neighbourhoods.

HISTORY of IRIS RIDGEVIEW OTTAWA

Also known as Ridgeway, this neighbourhood was developed in the early 1960s, during the same period as its western neighbour, Qualicum. Now filled with mature trees and family homes, Iris—Queensway Terrace South has an active community association that fosters its community spirit. They hold community events and have regular meetings to discuss neighbourhood and community issues.

This neighbourhood of almost 6000 residents is home to several public parks and the Pinecrest Recreation Complex. Kilreen Park has play structures for summer fun and an ice rink prepared and tended by community volunteers in the winter.

SHOPPING IN THE AREA

If you’re looking for a place to shop, look no further than the Pinecrest Shopping Centre, where you’ll find an enormous IKEA! Until 2013 this was the largest IKEA in Canada, an honour that now belongs to a location in Montreal.

You’ll find more than big box stores in Iris—Queensway Terrace South. Baxter Drive is dotted with restaurants and other businesses. The neighbourhood is quite bike-friendly, so you can pedal your way through many of your errands.

Iris—Queensway Terrace South is an established, family-friendly neighbourhood filled with detached homes, townhomes, and even some newer high-rise condo developments.

At just over 15 kilometres from downtown Ottawa, this neighbourhood offers residents the convenience of the city and the community bonds of the suburbs. Just two neighbourhoods north is the historic Britannia Village with its beautiful views and quaint cottages.  If you’re looking for a welcoming community in an established neighbourhood make the short drive to Iris—Queensway Terrace South. If you’re moving to Ottawa you may find your perfect home just 15 minutes from the city centre.
