Hunt Club South Ottawa Neighbourhood Tour

Today we’re touring the Hunt Club South Industrial Neighbourhood, located less than half an hour southwest of downtown Ottawa. There are four neighbourhoods in the River Ward named for the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, an Ottawa fixture since 1876.

Hunt Club South Industrial is quite an interesting area. Unlike most of Ottawa’s suburban neighbourhoods, this area is a mix of commercial and industrial parks and residential streets.

Commercial and Industrial PArks

You’ll find commercial parks, large and small, dotted throughout the neighbourhood with businesses including Lowes, Costco, and PetSmart. Those same areas come with chain restaurants like Starbucks and Panera Bread.

You’ll also find a more industrial area where local construction companies, remodelers, heating and cooling companies, and supply companies dominate.

There are plenty of small businesses scattered throughout the neighbourhood, everything from the House of Plants florist to the Wool-Tyme Craft Store.

Mixed in with all of this business activity are pockets of residential streets. The neighbourhood is bordered to the east by the beautiful Rideau River. You’ll also find Nepean Creek Park, with Nepean Creek itself meandering along the northern edge of the neighbourhood.

The Neighbourhood

There are excellent nature trails near the river, where you can find some green and enjoy the view.  The river is also where you’ll find most of the homes in the Hunt Club South Industrial neighbourhood.

Along with the Ravines Seniors’ Suites and Residences located in the northeast corner of the neighbourhood, there are clusters of large, detached homes running the length of the riverside through the neighbourhood.

If you’re moving to Ottawa and want to live on the Rideau River, take a look at these lush, private streets. If you’re working in the area and looking for something more affordable, head directly north to the Borden Farm – Fischer Glen neighbourhood.
