Today we’re hanging out inside Ottawa’s Greenbelt in the Bell’s Corners – West neighbourhood. This charming, historic community is surrounded by beautiful forests, farms, and wetlands.
HISTORY OF AREA
The Bell’s Corners – West we know today was largely developed in the 1950s as part of the city of Nepean. But its origins go all the way back to the early 1800s and the construction of Robertson Road.
An important thoroughfare between villages, cities, and military outposts, Richmond Road today is the downtown area of Bell’s Corner’s – West. You’ll find plenty of food and drink here, including Indian, Italian, and Thai restaurants and the Conspiracy Theory Brewing Company and Kitchesippi Beer.
If you’re in the mood for some shopping, stop in at the Scottish and Irish Store or All That Glitters Bridal. You’ll find car dealers, grocery stores, and even a place to buy a hot tub along Robertson Road. There’s a little something here for everyone!
THE GREAT OUTDOORS OF BELLS CORNERS WEST OTTAWA
The great thing about being located inside the Greenbelt is the abundant access to gorgeous nature trails. A quick trip down Moodie Drive will take you to the Beaver and Jack Pine trails. You’ll find a fantastic combination of wooded areas, marshes, and meadows on these trail systems.
You’ll even find access to Greenbelt trails right from some of the neighbourhood’s public parks. If you love the outdoors, you’ll feel at home in Bell’s Corners – West.
Bell’s Corners – West is an affordable area of detached homes, condos, and townhomes. Some of the early homes from the 1950s are still standing along with newer additions.
You’ll find most of the homes in Bell’s Corners – West south of Robertson Road. Westcliff Park sits in the middle of this residential area, surrounded by homes of all types and styles.
Located about 15 kilometres from downtown Ottawa, this suburban neighbourhood is popular with young families and those looking to downsize or leave the bustle of the city.
