Bel Air Heights Ottawa Neighbourhood Tour with Ottawa Realtor and Ottawa Real Estate Agent
On today’s Ottawa neighbourhood tour we’re visiting the Braemar Park—Bel Air Heights—Copeland Park area. These residential communities in the College Ward in Ottawa’s west end were primarily developed in the 1950s and 60s.
LAYOUT OF Bel Air Heights
Braemar Park, the northernmost and smallest community in the neighbourhood, is home to about 450 residents. It sits right near the NCC bike path, making for an easy 10 kilometre pedal for those inclined to ride to work in the city.
Braemar Park’s original homes are mostly detached, with the later addition of some townhomes. South of Braemar Park, the community of Bel-Air Heights offers a variety of detached home styles and condo complexes.
Bel-Air Heights, home to about 2,500 residents, sits just south of the nicely wooded Central Experimental Farm Pathway. This popular walking and biking trail is open year-round. You can follow this beautiful pathway right to the Experimental Farm and check out the arboretum or ornamental gardens.

Or, if you like, you can walk to Copeland Park, the community just east of Bel-Air Heights. If you’re moving to Ottawa and looking for a wooded suburb, Copeland Park delivers. Over 4,000 residents enjoy their proximity to both natural areas and the city centre.
Copeland Park offers a mix of detached homes, town homes, and several high-rise apartment buildings. The first high rise, Castle Hill, was built in the 70s and has been joined by several others in the years since.
The Braemar Park—Bel Air Heights—Copeland Park neighbourhood is large and filled with quiet residential streets and plenty of green spaces. Living in Ottawa isn’t all about the urban city centre. These welcoming communities are close to schools, parks, and nature, all while being just a few minutes from downtown.
